Rylstone was settled in the 1830’s making it one of the oldest settlements west of the Great Dividing Range. Just 3 and half hours from Sydney, Rylstone is the gateway to the World Heritage-listed Wollemi National Park and the beautiful Bylong Valley, boasting some of the most spectacular natural heritage in the region.
The Rylstone Hotel, known to locals as 'The Top Pub' or 'The Toppy', has been trading for over 160 years and is considered the oldest business in Rylstone.
The original timber pub was established as the Rylstone Tavern in 1857 by John Walton and closed in 1935. The Rylstone Hotel as we know it today re-opened on April 6th, 1938.
The current owners, Margaret and Gary Hart, purchased the hotel in October 2018 injecting a new lease of life into this local icon.
"This cozy establishment highlights our passion for market-fresh ingredients, simple and honest cooking, and an enjoyable atmosphere. Come and have a chat, or a quiet drink in our varied seating areas. Bar, lounge, beer garden or bistro.
There is something for everyone to enjoy, bring the kids or the oldies. Loved by locals and travellers alike, now is the perfect time for you to join us today at The Rylstone Hotel." ~ Margaret Hart.
